DCUBS undergraduates – update on Library instruction in Semester 1
This semester the Library offered training on information resources to some of the small and medium-sized DCUBS undergraduate programmes (European Business, IBL, MINT and Quantitative Finance). The idea was to deliver training as early as was useful to the actual assignment needs of students.
This meant EB and MINT first years got their session on business resources early on, while IBL and Quantitative Finance got their first formal exposure in Year 2. A session was also offered to EB fourth years to help prepare the students for the substantial project they have to produce in their final year. Overall, training was offered to 200 students and turnout averaged 60%.
Further specialist sessions will be offered to some of the smaller programmes in Semester 2, when the bulk of undergraduate instruction will also be delivered to the larger programmes.
We’re particularly pleased that we have managed to deliver some manner of training to all programmes for whom Semester 1 training is appropriate. We plan in future years to offer instruction to all years within individual programmes for which there is demand – and hopefully to get average attendance rates up!
I’ll report back with a fuller picture when we have completed the Semester 2 schedule of undergraduate instruction. If you have any queries about undergraduate training as a student or as a member of staff, get in touch with me (my contact details are on the Business Subject Portal or post a comment below).
To all the students to whom we have delivered training, the best of luck with your assignments!
